Heals The Original Dryness

i am no longer a faerie

it was not vanity that drew her to the mirror;
it was the amazement at seeing her own "I."

cut and pasted from aim, hence the sort of choppy ness and lack of names and details. i just thought i'd put it as and update, i'll probably add details later.

the directing internship started, and i was all gung ho, and then turned out "who's afraid of virgina woolf?" didn't start rehersal till the next week, so i got a little time off, and that was nice.
i went home, did some laundry, i was meaning to see a play but my sister wasn't up for it and she was basically my ride. but we went out for dinner and walked around santana row and browsed in borders and i got a bunch of theatre books and reaffimed my theatre geek-ness
the next day decided to go up to sf to see pride parade (but got there late so pretty much missed it and the friend i was going to meet there wasn't picking up his phone) and boyfriend and stayed at his place overnight and that was good, cause i don't get to see him for the next month or so
and so now the cast is here and we had a read thru yesterday and it was awesome and we started table work and that was rather awesome too, and i had a really long day but i wasn't tired at the end of it, i was rather pumped up and yeah, but our director is fighting the flu so he decided to take today off

i got solicited last night. it was really really funny. i had taken a late train home, the last train available, after seeing complete works of william shakespeare abridged with neil and anna and people, then going to cal ave, playing taboo at (curse of the) black pearl, and playing on the swings in a park only to be kicked out by the cops because the neighbors had complained. a completely innocent night has been broken up by the po -(mis)quoth neil. oddly i had invited dave to join us and about two minutes after he got the the cops showed up. i felt really bad. anyway, we went over to anna's house and played chess on the playstation and read scenes from rosencrantz and guildenstern are dead. got a ride to the train station. rested on the train. missed the 22 bus by about a minute.

to be continued... dad home

hm.. dad wasn't as amused by my soliciting story as mom was. tho apparently he had had a similar experience and not amused his mom so he was able to be more understanding than apparently she was, but he was still more worried of the potential that a gun could have been involved in that situation. aaannyway. so debated between taking a cab and waiting for the next bus, decided to take the bus (next time i'll take a cab, dad will probably reimburse me for my safety), realized the bus was going to be a half hour, decided to walk a bit, just for the excercise. half way up realized i had read the signs wrong and it was going to be an hour til the next bus, but by that point i was halfway home so i decided to just keep walking. there were cops everywhere downtown so i felt pretty safe. the solicting thing happened next to the san jose arena. a guy in a cab pulled up and asked if i'd be his friend. he's looking for a friend. he'd be willing to pay me a $100 to be his friend. i, highly confused, look over at the cab driver and ask, 'what is with this guy?" because i just didn't get what was going on, for on surface level its a guy asking to hang out, but my sixth sense if just going, "do not get in that car! you do not want to get in that car! not a good idea! don't do it!" other half saying "yeah i know, but whats with this guy?" just desperately trying to understand the situation. eventually i realized, oh, he's looking for a hooker. he eventually realized i was not interested, and was not a hooker. he apologized, said "sorry if i offended you. have a good night" and drove off. i blinked and cracked up at the entire situation.

walking thru downtown i was tempted to flag down one of the many cops and double check if what i had just experienced was in fact a solicitation of a looking-for-a-hooker sort. but the more i thought about it the more i realized, yes, yes thats what it was. that of course didn't stop my imagination from wondering, well what if it was just a nice guy looking to hang out with someone. what if i could have gotten a free ride a couple blocks and made some money as well. then thinking about it realized no, he probably wouldn't have driven me straight up to thirteenth street and there probably would have been some catch to it and even though it was a cab, it could have been a hijacked cab or something. anyway, as my dad said, it gives me a story and i'm glad i got home safe. plus i now know it takes about 50 minutes to walk between the train station and my house. good middle of the night excercise to burn off the jack in the box food i had eaten earlier.

so i've been having trouble with this "life soundtrack" that certain people have been putting on their live journals. not with theirs, but with mine. i don't really listen to music the same way other people do. i listen to musicals. on cds. usually with head phones or while i'm doing dishes. the general world seems to have moved on from this practice. they all now have itunes and mp3's and playlists that can randomly generate themselves thru the power of their computer. i have a crappy computer. hopefully this will soon be remedied, but at the moment i have a totally crappy computer. i do not listen to music the same way other people do. i don't have a way of veiwing every single song i've ever listened to with the click of a button.

however...

my roommate has this capability
he and i share a certain taste in music. i can often find many a song i enjoy on his randomly generated playlist. he has many more cd's than i do. he has maaany more non-broadway-musical cd's than i do. he has flemming and john. so i have come to this conclusion:

should i ever try to make a "life soundtrack" cd, it will most definately include "Radiate" by Flemming and John. it is seriously the happiest song on the planet. i suggest all of you who download and listen to music on your computers get an mp3 of it. your day will just shine :)

for lack of the full list of questions that they ask at the end of inside the actor's studio, i'm just making this up. things that come to me in the middle of the night.

favorite...
sight: the view across monteray bay
sound: 5 part harmony
taste: ghiradelli's milk chocolate and caramel squares
smell: stargazer lilies
touch: soft skin
feeling: sitting in the shade on a hot day/ cuddling

we could go on to the [blank] that you hate the most using the above, but i think those are too easy, and we dwell on the negative far too much in everyday life, this is a chance to remember what you enjoy

YES!!!! the phone problem is not with the internal wiring! they're fixing it without charging us! WAHOO!!!!!!!!!! *TOTAL HAPPY DANCE*

soon i shall have a phone again

i find it cruel and unusual irony that once i finally have a local boyfriend, my unlimited local calling is no longer available to me and i have to pay 25 to 10 cents a minute on my cell phone to talk to the boy. IT SHOULD BE FREE! and once my home phone is working again he'll be in marin and it will no longer be local calls. fuck you irony gods. fuck you up the anus with my double fists.
